Sign in with a passkey
Skip the email code: sign in to RookiePrep with your face, fingerprint or device PIN. Setting one up takes about 10 seconds.

What's a passkey?
- Sign in with your face, fingerprint or device PIN. No email code to wait for.
- The passkey is saved on this device (or in your Apple or Google account, so your other devices can use it too).
- Your face and fingerprint never leave your device. RookiePrep only stores a public key, which is useless to anyone else.
- Using a phone and a laptop? Add a passkey on each one.
- You can still sign in with an email code any time.
Add a passkey
Sign in with an email code, then open My progress and choose Add a passkey under Sign-in and security. Here is what happens next on each kind of device:
iPhone or iPad
Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode
- Tap "Add a passkey".
- A sheet asks "Save a passkey for rookieprep.com?" Tap Continue.
- Look at your phone (Face ID), rest your finger on the Home button (Touch ID), or enter your passcode.
- Done. It is saved to iCloud Keychain, so it also works on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
Needs iOS 16 or later. If nothing appears, check Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Passwords and Keychain is on, and open RookiePrep in Safari (not inside another app).
Android phone or tablet
Fingerprint, face unlock or your screen lock
- Tap "Add a passkey".
- Google asks "Create a passkey for rookieprep.com?" Pick your Google account if asked, then tap Continue.
- Touch the fingerprint sensor, use face unlock, or enter your screen lock PIN or pattern.
- Done. It is saved to Google Password Manager, so it also works on your other devices signed in to the same Google account.
Needs a screen lock (Settings > Security). If another password manager (such as Samsung Pass) offers to save it, that works too.
Windows PC
Windows Hello: face, fingerprint or PIN
- Click "Add a passkey".
- A Windows Security window opens. If it asks where to save, choose "This Windows device".
- Look at the camera, touch the fingerprint reader, or type your Windows Hello PIN.
- Done. The passkey is saved on this PC. Add another one on each of your other devices.
Needs Windows Hello (Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options). In Chrome you may be offered Google Password Manager instead; that is fine and syncs to your other devices.
Mac
Touch ID or your Mac password
- Click "Add a passkey".
- Your browser asks to save a passkey for rookieprep.com. Click Continue.
- Touch the Touch ID key, or enter your Mac login password.
- Done. In Safari it is saved to iCloud Keychain, so it works on your iPhone and iPad too.
In Chrome you may be asked to choose iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager. Either works.
Using a phone to sign in on a computer
Scan a QR code with your phone
- On the computer, click "Add a passkey" (or "Use a passkey" when signing in).
- Choose "Use a phone or tablet" (it may say "iPhone, iPad or Android device"). A QR code appears.
- Point your phone camera at the QR code and tap the link that appears.
- Confirm on your phone with your face, fingerprint or screen lock. Keep Bluetooth on and the phone near the computer.
Good for shared or older computers without a fingerprint reader or camera. The passkey stays on your phone; next time, scan the QR code again.
Sign in with it
- On the sign-in card, choose Use a passkey.
- Confirm with your face, fingerprint or PIN (or scan the QR code with your phone).
- You're in. Tick "Keep me signed in" on your own device to stay signed in for 90 days.
Troubleshooting
Nothing happens when I tap "Add a passkey"
It says the request was cancelled or timed out
It says this device already has a passkey
It offers a passkey from a different device, or the wrong account
I got a new phone or computer
I lost my phone
Can I still use email codes?
Your privacy
- Your face, fingerprint and PIN stay on your device. RookiePrep never sees or stores them.
- We keep only the passkey’s public key, its name and when it was last used.
- A passkey only works on rookieprep.com, so a fake look-alike site cannot trick you into using it.
- Remove a passkey any time in My progress > Sign-in and security.
